Alireza Jodey

Alireza Jodey was born in Ghazvin, Iran, 1969.

After finishing his diploma in architecture in Ghazvin in 1987, he moved to Tehran to finish his B.A. in painting at the Islamic Azad University in 1989, moving forward to an M.A. in painting at the same university in 1994. Since 2008 he has been teaching drawing at the Vijeh Graphic Design Institute and has been faculty member of the painting group at the Islamic Azad Art & Architecture University Tehran.

The paintings of Alireza Jodey are rich: every corner of his works is full of symbolic and allegorical complexes. The mythologies, the religious symbologies, the ancient Iranian paintings (Qajar period prints), calligraphies, the classical texts as well as the black satire of the current state of the world: everything which has begun as small ripples in Jodey’s imaginative mind is being turned into an artistic tsunami.
