Makan Ashgvari

Makan Ashgvari is a multi-talented artist based in Tehran, Iran, known for his diverse roles in the arts. He’s recognized as a singer, songwriter, actor, director, art manager, and teacher. His work has received acclaim in Iranian art circles, with notable mentions in magazines such as MusiceMa, Chelcheragh, and Noise.

In the music industry, Ashgvari has an impressive collaborative portfolio. He’s worked with numerous bands and artists like Kiawasch Saheb Nas- sagh, Naima, Kamakan, Pallet, Bomrani, Kingraam, Pouya Ehsaei, Amir Saremi, and many others. His discography includes two solo albums, “Hejdah” and “To Trucks,” as well as joint projects like “Far” and “Then Go” with guitarist Amir Saremi. He was also the main vocalist for Naima Band’s album “Sahele Tehran” and played a crucial role in the debut album of “Ka- makan” as an art director.

Ashgvari’s talent extends to theater, where he has made significant contri- butions as a director, writer, and actor. He’s worked with renowned directors such as Atila Pesyani, Samaneh Zandinejad, and Hamid Purazari. His per- formance in Reza Servati’s “Woyzeck” was particularly well-received.

He founded “Otaghkar” in 2013, a platform supporting independent musi- cians through concerts, workshops, and music publishing. Otaghkar has notably organized the “Bazshenid” music festival in Tehran in 2017 with 26 artists and bands performing, and has been involved in more than 35 work- shops. Additionally, Ashgvari represented Otaghkar at the ATSA (Art Think South Asia) in 2018, further showcasing his commitment to the independent music scene.
